Jozanne Marie is an acclaimed author, actress, speaker, and producer whose bold voice and storytelling continue to inspire readers and audiences around the world.Her award-winning memoir, Beautiful, Unashamed and Unafraid, has made a global impact and is now being adapted into a feature film by one of Hollywood’s top entertainment companies. The book was one of only six works to receive the Margins Book Award for Social Justice and Advocacy, and was recognized by Library Journal as a Book for Social Change. For her outstanding contributions to art and advocacy, Jozanne was honored by the City of Los Angelesand Mayor Eric Garcetti for her work that uplifts and empowers communities.
Born in Jamaica, Jozanne first introduced Beautiful as an award-winning solo play that earned her the NAACP Theatre Award for Best Solo Show, garnering critical acclaim from major outlets such as the Los Angeles Times (“Critic’s Choice”) and LA Weekly (“Best of the Week”). The overwhelming response inspired her to launch the National Beautiful Campaign, a movement dedicated to helping women reclaim their stories and power.
As an author and performer, Jozanne’s work bridges literature, stage, and screen, always rooted in truth, courage, and transformation. Her performances have been celebrated internationally, including a sold-out appearance in Montreal, Canada, presented by the High Commissioner of Jamaica, Janice Miller, and the Jamaican Consulate of Montreal, George Grant, who hailed her as “one of Jamaica’s most beautiful creations.”
Jozanne began her creative journey in New York City with Family Life Theater, using the arts to inspire youth. She went on to train at the prestigious Acting Studio Conservatory and has since appeared in film, television, and theatre, including Tears of the Sun (with Bruce Willis), Taming of the Shrew at the Globe Theatre, Marisol, Vanities, and No Exit.
Beyond the stage and page, Jozanne is the visionary behind workshops like SPIT, empowering inner-city youth to tackle social issues through spoken word, and Men Making a Change, a project presented to First Lady Michelle Obama.
A member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Dramatists Guild, Jozanne also serves as a Board Member for the African Artists Association and an Associate Programmer for the Bentonville Film Festival (Geena Davis Institute), which champions women and diverse voices in media. She is also the Co-CEO of a forward-thinking production company dedicated to transformative storytelling.
